Tommy James & the Shondells_Crytal Blue Persuasion

I absolutely LURVE Crystal Blue Persuasion. I remember EXACTLY where I was when I first fell in love with the song. In the back of my Mom and Dad’s ’64 White over Aqua Blue Chevy Impala, in the parking lot at Harrah’s casino, North Shore Lake Tahoe, with my sketch book, colored pencils, and 3 new issues of some teen horror mystery of the day, I had picked up at the local 5 and dime. I was 13 and didn’t have to stay at the Recreation Center (Kids Center) for the first time ~I was truly in my element up there in the higher altitudes, and Life was good. 🙂

Falling Leaves, and I’m a LumberJill~

Lumberjack Song

I’m a lumberjack, and I’m okay.
I sleep all night. I work all day.

Mounties : He’s a lumberjack, and he’s okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.I cut down trees. I eat my lunch.
I go to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go shoppin’
And have buttered scones for tea.

Mounties: He cuts down trees. He eats his lunch.
He goes to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays he goes shopping
And has buttered scones for tea.

Chorus : I’m (He’s) a lumberjack, and I’m (he’s) okay.
I (
He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.I cut down trees. I skip and jump.
I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women’s clothing
And hang around in bars.

: He cuts down trees. He skips and jumps.
He likes to press wild flowers.
He puts on women’s clothing
And hangs around in bars?!

Chorus : I’m (He’s) a lumberjack, and I’m (he’s) okay.
I (
He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.I cut down trees. I wear high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra.
I wish I’d been a girlie,
Just like my dear Mama (
or Papa in later versions)

Mounties : He cuts down trees. He wears high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra?!

Chorus : I’m (He’s) a lumberjack, and I’m (he’s) okay.
I (
He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.Yes, I’m (He’s) a lumberjack, and I’m (he’s) ok-a-y.
I (
He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.

Another month is almost over, the kids are back in school. Halloween and our anniversary are fast approaching.

We spent a quiet weekend indoors, watching the leaves turn colors, some of them falling to the driveway. A cold front heading our way brought temperatures down and windows were closed. The Twins are getting bigger, their spots are gone and they are getting darker.

Saturday was spent processing orders,  making hair sticks and shawl pins, and catching up with contacts. Paperwork can wait another day, I just wanted to relax and not have to think too hard.

Sunday morning, Igor and I went for a quick walk,  then came back and relaxed for a while.  I brought all the cacti in, as the wind picked up. Later that afternoon, I worked on my LumberJill Socks  while an apple pie baked, filling the house with yummy smells.

Lumberjill Socks, step-by-step
Lumberjill Socks, step-by-step

These socks are taking me longer, but not for any reason other than they are something to do between other projects. OH, in case you’re wondering why I call them “Lumberjill” socks-the yarn is Knitpicks Essential Tweed, colorway Lumberjack Tweed. and since they’re women’s socks, I named them Lumberjill.

They look more like GI Jane socks, the color is very Army. I wonder what color socks is regulation for the Canadian Royal Mounted Police…

While the oven was heated, I decided to throw some biscotti in for the Cookie Jar stash, a quick recipe of Kahlua and poppyseeds, my favorite flavor. Igor was a happy boy, he loves watching and waiting for those nibblin’s that come during the cutting stage.

M. made BBQ  “country style” ribs, sauerkraut and roasted potatoes for dinner-Mmmmmmm! The house smelled sooooo good, it drove us nuts and we could barely wait for dinner-we forgot to stick the crescent rolls in, so they will be tomorrow’s breakfast 🙂

It’s “House” night, 7pm. I love that show!

Barb, can’t wait for you to get back, but I know you’re having a day at the beach 🙂

Have a good evening!

“California, here I come…”

“, right back where I started from.”

I love when I remember a song from way back. No, I’m not really leaving, but a vacation would be nice. 🙂

“Leavin’ on a jet plane. Don’t know when I’ll be back again. Obabe, I hate to go…” RIP Mary Travers, Peter and Paul will surely miss you most.

I went to Sharon’s  Surprise Birthday Party Saturday, it was great! Her daughter Heather put on such a spread, and I begged for the recipes, and noticed some in my Inbox this morning-will share in another post~

Sharon LOVED her two doilies, The Sheery Witchery Glass Doily and the Spiderweb Doily:

I keep up with Linda Godfrey’s blogs, and her latest entry was very interesting! I was never a Google fan, but I added her RSS to my IGoogle, and actually like the look of the homepage~worth checking out.

I reworked my KnitPicks LumberJill Socks- the Hourglass stitch got the best of me on my worst day, and not feeling good to begin with, my patience came unraveled by the 3rd round of said 4-row pattern. So I ripped it back to the beginning of my original 2×2 rib pattern and resumed the foot. I’m about halfway up the foot now, and thinking that when I’m feeling better, say, on my next sock, I might just attempt the Hourglass stitch again. It’s not that it’s difficult or anything, just tedious with sock yarn and #2 dpns. Lessons learned.

Nats and I went to the Walworth County Fair last night and saw Styx in concert~ it was amazing! We got there at 3:55 and got in line, didn’t have to wait long, they started letting people in at 4pm. We took our folding chairs and sat up in the track right in front of the stage, about 8 rows back.

I took my knitting along, while N. worked on Word Search pages. The concert wasn’t scheduled to start unit 7:30 but we wanted to get our spot before it filled up, and glad we did-by 7:00 they were packed to the rafters. Most of the people who sat in the bleachers didn’t arrive until about 7:00, then it filled up fast. All uf us on the ground were pretty darn happy with our seats, and we didn’t have to pay for our choice spots~ the center was roped off for the Reserve Seats, but honestly, they didn’t have any better view than we did!

I got my heel turned on the second sock just as the sun was getting lower in the sky behind the grandstands, perfect timing. Then I ran out into the Midway to grab us some egg-rolls from Sue Wu’s of Lake Geneva, before the concert started,  YUMMM!

N. and her BF went back to the Fair today to finish off the festivities and see the fireworks. She loved the concert, it was so fun taking her to her first-EVER concert-she had a riot singing and dancing-

Wow, it was great seeing him again, he is doing really well it seems, after a long bout with drugs and alcohol-he has cleaned up rather well. He has a new album coming out, “Steve Earl Townes”. after hearing the song, Poncho and Lefty on his website, he’s true to form, and his album will be on my list of Must-have!

My personal favorite, Copperhead Road is one of the best he’s put out
